Introduction
Subramanya Bharati was a freedom fighter, free thinker and reformer. He lived only for 39 years and his life, his patriotism, passion on India nationalism and active participation in independent struggle have left an indelible impression on the hearts of Tamils. He is regarded as one of the greatest poets of India and he always considered Tamil as his mother and India as his mother nation. Popularly known as "Mahakavi Bharathiyar", he is a pioneer of modern Tamil poetry and is considered one among the greatest of Tamil literary figures of all time. His numerous works were fiery songs kindling patriotism and nationalism during Indian Independence movement.
