Notes for teachers
This chapter can be a little boring since most of the things here is in chemistry which if not properly illustrated can be a little discouraging to the students. Appropriate examples accompanied by sample of the chemicals will help the students to identify various materials. A field visit, if possible, to one of the manufacturing centers will give them a more better insight in the making of the material.
Special emphasis must be laid on the current issues of various types of pollutions associated with the making and the usage of the products either as a chemical or as a tangible product. Plastic related pollution should be emphasized and a discussion for the pros and cons of plastic can be facilitated in the class. The issue of the degradable and non biodegradable.
