===Notes for teachers===
''These are short notes that the teacher wants to share about the concept, any locally relevant information, specific instructions on what kind of methodology used and common misconceptions/mistakes.''

This is one of the few chapters in biology in which there can be social and cultural aspects which have to be kept in mind. This chapter as it may happen is too sensitive for some teachers to teach and there is often an over enthusiasm from the students which often is taken by the teachers in a negative way. Children of this age group are often themselves curious about this topic and often ask questions which are considered inappropriate by the teacher and society at large. While there is no denying fact that some of the children on account of their cultural and social upbringing they become sensitive to the word "sex", others on account of the openness of the internet have various wrong assumptions about this topic. Many children will treat this a joke. Care has to be taken to not make this a laughing stock and children do understand the importance and significance of this topic.

Teachers on their part need to take care that students shouldn't be let astray but stay on track. Make them aware about the dangers of unprotected sex which includes STDs, teen pregnancy etc. May be, by asking the overexcited students on what they know from reproduction will bring out their assumptions which then collectively can be worked upon. Please do not skip this chapter!!
