Summary

Adolescence challenges can create a lot of confusion and anxiety. Discussing with their friends, and having group discussions can help the Kishoris realize that the challenges are not their own but all have the same challenges. Having activities in circle using the charts will help in understanding where Kishoris have interest in their daily life. (Duration: 160 mins)

Assumptions

The Kishoris would be dull if the teachers punished in their previous grade or standard.

  1. They may be tired or fatigued whole day (breakfast would have been skipped, Menstruation )
  2. Due to the situation at home, it would have been difficult for the Kishoris to get more information. They may be unaware that they can get all the answers at home for any questions around any topics.
  3. They may or may not be having internet access at home.
  4. They may not be aware about coming of age.
  5. We may not get proper response, so it’s good to go prepared with examples and scenarios.
  6. Due to the possibility of discussing sensitive topics, the Kishoris may not be enthusiastic.

Objective

  • The Kishoris have to understand their voice by themselves through this program. Share with their friends around.
  • They live in a mindset thinking it’s their own problem for various topics. But when they share with others having the same problem then they realize its common problem with all.
  • Speaking on the challenges faced by the Kishoris

Process

  • To recall and revise the previous week’s discussion, and to introduce ourselves again.
  • (7 Members) To discuss your topics / issues in groups (forming circles / chains)
  • This module is designed for 7 weeks, so you will get 160 minutes

How to execute the Process:

Inform the Kishoris to form two groups, as this is the first activity and be serious as well; this will help the Kishoris to discuss with their friends without any barriers.

We will inform the Kishoris to discuss their issues/interests between themselves, there won’t be any hesitation to discuss with their friends.

Suppose if any pair does not understand, the facilitator can give simple examples, for example the homework will be more.

Provide A-4 sheets and ask the Kishoris to write their topic of discussion.

Collect all the A-4 sheets, and read the content written by Kishoris in front of them.

As the Kishoris have discussed serious topics for the week, they may be feeling low, so we will show them digital slides already prepared to keep them motivated, and to keep them curious for the next week’s discussion. These digital stories are compiled based on different movie clippings, background music, and pictures of Kishoris. The pictures of Kishoris used are taken from the previous week. As we have used the old pictures to create the video clippings, it will help them to understand various technologies. These digital stories are not released due to copyrights and privacy concerns.

This completes the discussion for one week (80 Minutes)

The Kishoris will be put into 4 groups for the coming week’s discussion, fun activities are conducted so that the Kishoris get up from their places and take part in group activities.

Note :

The text in the above diagram is as mentioned below

The text in Outer Circle with 11 green dots is “School”

The text in the Middle circle with 11 red dots is “Enroute Home to School”

The text in the Inner Circle with 12 Blue dots is “Home”

The image can be accessed in the below link

The diagram with circles has to be placed on a black slab ( without dots or stickers), the text in the diagram contains 3 circles representing words like “Home”, “way to school from home”/ “Bus “/”Auto “and “school”, we will ask the Kishoris to stick different colors of stickers to identify various issues faced by them. 3 facilitators will have to give a demo about the activity once, the facilitators will use stickers of different color than the colors given to Kishoris. After this demo, the Kishoris are asked to be seated in their respective groups, the groups can be seated inside or outside the classroom.

Every group will be provided with one chart, stickers of 3 different colors and sketch pens, and monitored by a facilitator. The Kishoris are told to write down the circles using the sketch pens given to them. (Kishoris are free to choose the colors)

Ask the Kishoris if the topics and stories discussed in the previous week can be shared in the group, Kishoris can share their story or even the stories of other Kishoris without revealing their names, the content shared to be written and noted down as it is. (10 Minutes)

After this, The Kishoris will stick the stickers according to the issues faced by them, stickers consisting of 3 colors are provided to them, to share their topics they have to stick the stickers as show in the above diagram.

For “Home” Blue color sticker is used.

For “Enroute Home to School /Bus/Auto” etc. Red color sticker is used.

For “School” Green color sticker is used. (Agenda20 – 25 Minutes)

All the issues are to be noted down on a paper, and this is not shown to the Kishoris. The facilitators will collect the papers and ask the Kishoris to return to the classroom, facilitator of respective groups will stick the paper on the black slab, The content noted on the paper is to be pasted below the other facilitators chart. This will help in further discussion. (5 minutes)

The Kishoris will come in a line and read out the contents written in the paper.

By marking the common contents in the paper, two facilitators will identify and read out the same.

Ask the Kishoris “What do you think of after looking at the 4 charts.” (Referring to the Circles – different colors are used, circles are in different shapes)

Sometimes, the stickers may be more in a particular circle.

We can ask “What do you think” based on the “discussion with their friends”, “Sticking the stickers”, and “after the discussion that happened after sticking the stickers”.

If they do not answer anything then continue asking the Kishoris that, “seems like all have the same issues, its degree and proportion may be different, but all would have same issues I believe. Do you also feel the same?” (20 minutes)

The Kishoris may answer like “The issue is not only with us, but all would have similar issues”.

Then close the discussion saying, “we will discuss what we can do with these problems in the next week’s discussion”. (10 minutes)
