Summary:

This module is designed to introduce Kishoris and Facilitators to each other. Introducing each other through fun filled activities will create a feeling that this is different from regular classes in school. By using digital content (subject) to build a story on the spot will help Kishoris to overcome shyness and hesitation towards technology. This in turn will create excitement in them regarding our programs.

Assumptions:

1. Common reasons for All modules

a. If Kishoris were punished in any of their previous classes, they can be dull.

b. Kishoris may feel tired (might have come to class without having food, they might not be feeling well (Menstrual Cycle)

2. Total time – 60 minutes

3. Total number of kishoris – 29

4. Language:

a. Medium of Teaching : Kannada

b. Kishoris might also be from numerous language backgrounds like Telugu, Tamil, Urdu etc.

5. Location: A Room having projector

6. Kishoris may be from below or above poverty line (BPL or APL) categories.

7. Some of the Kishoris may also be

a. From a single parent family

b. From a family of immigrants

c. Father or Mother of Kishoris may be having an extramarital affair. Kishoris may feel uneasy or embarrassed due to the same. Due to this reason Kishoris may hesitate to speak about their family (this fact has been shared by Principals of many schools)

d. Kishoris may be hesitant to speak about the profession of their parents

8. Few Kishoris may be undergoing difficulties/exploitation at home/outside

9. Few Kishoris may also be doing different type of jobs to support their family economically or they might also be supporting their parents by helping them in daily chores/work before coming to school.

10. Kishoris may commute to school either by Walking, By Bus or in a two-wheeler with

Parent. This also may have an impact on our discussions.

11. Good experience or Lessons learnt from their previous grade classes will in turn increase their enthusiasm levels.

12. Bad experience or Lessons from their previous grades will in turn decrease their enthusiasm levels.

13. We also need to observe and pay attention to learning skills of all the Kishoris.

a. Shortcomings: unable to read/write a language or learning disability

b. Supporting Factors – Language Grasp, Love to learn technology, Creativity & Excitement in Kishoris

Objectives:

1. Introducing Kishoris to our programs, so as to create excitement in them regarding our programs.

2. To enable Kishoris to embrace technology and make them to feel Technology is not complex but simple to learn

3. To prepare them for Hosa Hejje Hosa Dishe with us.

Process:

To positively encourage Kishoris, we shall click photographs of them. And also simultaneously, other Kishoris will be kept engaged in some games.

On a chart, we draw a circle & straight line and ask Kishoris to continue drawing in turns

To make a meaningful picture. Aim of this game is to create a meaningful picture. Duration: 20 minutes

In the next class, compilation of the game that was played. (2 Facilitators as mentioned earlier) Duration: 10 minutes

Also in these 10 minutes, the other two facilitators will conduct introduction session to the Kishoris. In this activity, Every Kishori Will learn/get introduced about the name, favourite hero, favourite food, favourite game of kishori who is sitting on her right side.

After this we will show the Digital Story of Hosa Hejje Hosa Dishe (approximately 3-4 minute

After watching the Digital Story, facilitators shall initiate discussion on how was experience among the Kishoris. As an initiation one of the facilitators will share their views/experience about the digital story, after which all the Kishoris one by one will share their views/experience. Duration: 10 minutes

Introduction to Hosa Hejje Hosa Dishe. Also inform them that this is not regular classroom syllabus coverage

• 4 facilitators will discuss in small groups

• 4 small groups – Sticky notes/stickers of four different colours ( red, blue, green, purple (can be stuck on books). Put the four sticky notes into two boxes. Each Kishori will be asked to pick 1 sticker of their choice.

• Every group will be named by the colour which they have chosen.

• By sitting in 4 groups, each group can create a story, document on topic of their

Interest using Audio Recorder, tablet, and Camera. Which topic will you chose?

(Example: About your favourite hero, about your favourite game example: How did you Spend your holidays) Facilitators must document whatever Kishoris will share

• After the discussion in small groups, all team members can form into 1 group

• Facilitator will inform on which day of the week ________ & period of the

Day________ we will do this kind of activity with you all.

The program has been designed in such a way that in addition to whatever you want to share, we will also share the Information/knowledge. This program is called Hosa Hejje Hosa Dishe.

• Facilitator will conduct Question & Answer session with Kishoris to answer if

there are any doubts on the topics that they learnt, or info shared by Facilitator.

• The program will be concluded once Question & Answer session is completed.

Resources Required:

• Camera and Tripod – 1

• Video Editing Software (Caddon live) & Audio editing software (Audacity) on a computer/laptop – 1

• Projector – 1

• Speaker – 1

• Audio Story, Related photographs & suitable background music clips are required

• Blank Chart

• Sketch Pens

Total Number of Facilitators – 4

• Digital story compilers (2), this skill can be possessed by the above facilitators.
