Objectives

Making cubes with nets

Estimated Time

40 minutes

Prerequisites/Instructions, prior preparations, if any

A cube and its properties should have been covered.

Materials/ Resources needed

Non digital: Chart paper, pencil, scale, scissors, cellophane tape

Process (How to do the activity)

  1. Ask the students to draw equal sized grids on the chart paper.
  2. Draw and cut any of the cubed nets as shown in the above figure.
  3. Cut along the edges.
  4. Fold carefully and form into a cube.
  5. Secure tight using cello tape.
  6. Study the properties of cube.
  • Developmental Questions:
  1. What is a cube ?
  2. How many sides does a cube have ?
  3. Are all sides the same ?
  4. Point to its vertices. How many vertices does a square have ?
  5. Point to its edges and faces. How many are there ?
  6. What is the shape of each of its face ? So how many squares are there in a cube ?
  • Evaluation:
  1. What are the properties of a cube ?

  1. List objects similar to a cube from your surroundings ?
