- Allow students to bring up ideas for why India is seen as being 'under developed', and build on them.
- Encourage debate in the Indian context of different facets of 'development' - economic/material, non material etc.
- Bhutan has a concept of 'happiness index' - is this relevant or useful to measure development?
- Encourage all students to participate

There are several factors which cause a country to be under developed. Which of these apply to India? Can you rank these factors in their order of importance? India is a land of 'spiritualism' and many religions have also been born here. Is there any relationship between this and the low level of economic development?
