School leadership program for BBMP HMs 2017

A program for sharing and learning about school leadership and development, with the HMs of 13 BBMP schools in Bengaluru.
The program will comprise 7 workshops (first Friday of each Month), with interactions between workshops over virtual phone communities. Readings will be assigned and presented to facilitate discussions.
Session 1 - July 2017 - School leadership in context / ಅಧಿವೇಶನ 1 - ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಲಾ ನಾಯಕತ್ವ
- Fill up Participant information form
- Introductions - Basic information about myself and my school
- Introduction to Community of Learning and school leadership - "Presentation and discussions - Why is a Community of Learning useful – school, teachers, parents as "learning community"
- Presentation of the overall program
- Understanding our context - reading ಪ್ರಭಾವ ವಲಯ ಕಾಳಜಿ ವಲಯ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಪತ್ರ ("COI COC), presentation + discussions. Documenting discussions in a concept map
- Assign reading - ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಗುರಿಗಳು (Aims of Education - NCF 2005 Position paper excerpt)
- Home work - Identify ONE incident / event in which you had both ಪ್ರಭಾವ ವಲಯ ಕಾಳಜಿ ವಲಯ

- Tux typing and text editing - Becoming familiar with editing text resources
- Connecting for learning - using Computer and Internet to access open educational resources in Kannada and English.
- Browsing internet with web browser Firefox.
- Searching information with Google Search engine
- Identifying useful sites. Surfing on your phone.

- Assign reading - School vision - Kai Ming Cheng, ‘Vision building among school leaders’ - ಕೈ ಮಿಂಗ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ವಿಷನ್ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ
- Assign - Collate information on how the students, teachers and community perceives the school. Identify one area where you want to build your understanding and implement a small project. Help required from other HMs/schools, program and other stakeholders to be identified
Session 3 - September 2017 - Vision for school development / ಅಧಿವೇಶನ - 3 - ಶಾಲಾ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿನ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿ

Session 5 - November 2017 - School development project planning and implementation - ಪ್ರಕಲ್ಪ ಯೋಜನೆ, ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಿ
- Viewing TCOL video - discussing and reflecting on 'school development' as a conscious and planned process - planned and implemneted through series of small discrete projects
- Note for designing school development projects - review and discussions. Understanding the concept of 'Project' - as a time bound set of activities, for achieving specific aim(s)
- Identification of school development project by the HMs, for planning and implementing in their schools

Session 6 - School Development - January 2018
- Input session - Time Management for School leaders - The 2nd Quadrant, ಸಮಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಚತುರ್ಥಕ.odp . Distinguishing between 'urgent' and 'important'
- Sharing / presenting of school development projects planned and implemented by HMs, by Mr. LOKESHAPPA, BBMP UHPS, Bharathinagar (Swacha School) and Ms. UMADEVAMMA, BBMP UHPS, MARAPPANPALYA (School Magazine)
- Discussions on the project presentations by HMs
Session 7 - Putting it together, and taking it forward - February 2018/ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ 7 - ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸುವುದು
- Sharing / presenting of school development projects planned and implemented by HMs
- How do we take our learning and our school leadership and development forward?
- How do we continue learning as a virtual community?
- Can each school be a resource centre in one area for other schools?
- What can we offer to the community on an ongoing basis
- How can we be part of the Bengaluru schools community (government and aided schools)?
