About the Program

With the aim of enriching students’ language learning experiences by leveraging the power of storytelling as a pedagogical tool along with the newer possibilities that the digital medium offers, the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) and the Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs) across Karnataka collaborated with IT for Change to pilot the program ‘Integrating Digital Story-Based Pedagogy in Language Education’ during 2023-24 for government higher primary school teachers. The program is being implemented as part of the departments' Sri Aluru Venkata Rao Bhasha Labs initiative in four Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs) in Karnataka - Mysuru, Chitradurga, Belagavi and Gulbarga.

Objectives:

  1. To help teachers immersively experience and appreciate storytelling as a pedagogy
  2. To enable teachers to access, analyze and evaluate appropriate stories and related resources for language teaching-learning from various repositories
  3. Provide opportunities for collaborative resource creation, curation and sharing
  4. To help them explore FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) tools and new digital methods to record audio-visual resources for language teaching and learning
  5. To support the teachers in building a repository with contextual multilevel, multi-modal digital resources in English.
