ICT Lab in school

Getting computers in school

  1. Accumlated funds - with permission of DDPI can be used to buy laptop, projector
  2. RMSA Adarsha Vidyalaya schools can buy computers as per rules
  3. Computer donations from IT companies can be sought
  4. Community contributions through SDMC for purchasing 1 computer and 1 laptop (see GHS Girls Urdu Gurumitkal, Yadgir which bought a smartboard with contributions.
  5. RMSA Circular on using RMSA school grant for ICT items

Getting Internet for my school

  1. Broadband Internet is best option.
  2. Data card option is cheaper - data card costs around Rs 1600 and monthly subscription fees from Rs 100 (for 1 GB download)

Maintaining computers and lab

  1. ICT infrastructure is delicate and requires regular maintenance.
  2. Keep lab clean and dust free. Dust is enemy of computers

Ideas for making the lab active place in school for learning

  1. Even if school does not have many computers, even having minimum 1 laptop + 1 projector can be very helpful.
  2. Use mindmaps for school meetings discussions and documenting action plans (CNS Sir, Hassan)
  3. Have ICT mela in school and different teachers can integrate ICT for special sessions with students. (see GHS_Nelamangala School Mapping Mela)
  4. Encourage teachers in mathematics, science and social science to use the ICT text book which has high school topics integrating ICTs
