Focus areas for the District Cascade Workshops

The STF programme will work with ICT Phase 3 school teachers and the focus of this year's MATHS STF District workshops will be to:

  1. Build the computer literacy skills for teachers
  2. Introduce the learning possibilities from using the Internet
  3. Use emails, subject mailing forums and discussion forums to communicate
  4. Build digital resource libraries
  5. Access the Karnataka Open Educational Resources and Contribute
  6. How to use the internet as a learning resource - to create a resource library for my use and for the classroom
  7. Develop digital literacy skills - email, internet search and downloading, using image editor and text editor
  8. Learning to use Geogebra for creating simulations in algebra and geometry
  9. Use of ICT tools - photos, simulations for teaching
  10. Understanding how the resources are organized on KOER and share feedback and activities


Activities before the workshop

  1. Lab readiness checklist The DIET/ CTE Nodal Officer and RP should ensure internet availability, with minimum 4 Mbps connection
  2. Enough computers to allow 1:1 computer:teacher ratio.
  3. The training labs should have the NEW Ubuntu version 14.04 installed on them.

  4. To allow for adequate practice, the batch size should be kept to 20-25 based on number of working computers. The number of teachers to be trained and number of batches needed is available [ here.]

  5. DIET/ CTE Nodal Officer to enter the cascade training timetable information. Please click [here] to enter information about the District workshop schedule for STF 2014-15 and enter the cascade schedule.

Preparation for the cascade

Master resource persons from all 34 districts have been trained on the use of Internet for building resource libraries and contributing resources to the Karnataka Open Educational Resources. They have also been trained in using mind maps to build resources, image editing. They focused on the use of Geogebra for classroom lesosns.


Activities during and after the workshop
